Discover London Off the Beaten Track

If you take regular stays in our central London serviced apartments, you may be starting to think that Buckingham Palace and The Tower of London just aren’t quite as exciting as they once were. Wonderful as these attractions may be, we all want to see something new and exciting on our holidays.

So here we’ve bought together a few things for you to do during your short stay in Mayfair that you’re unlikely to find in the tourist brochures. Read on to find out some areas of London that lay off the beaten track.

Denis Sever’s House

Part museum, part tour, part experience – this ‘still life drama’ is a fantastic piece of history tucked away just outside the heart of London. Just a short ride away from your London Serviced Apartment, this mysterious attraction takes you on a tour through a perfectly preserved 18th Century home. The idea of the experience is for someone to get ‘as lost in another time as they appear to be in their own,’ – and it’s complete from the sound of silk weavers to a half-eaten meal still waiting on the table.

Abandoned Underground

Located just off the Strand, Aldwych Station was built in 1907, and served for many years as a terminus on the Piccadilly Line. After suffering form disuse for many decades, it eventually closed in 1994, and has been used as a set for films like V for Vendetta and Mr Selfridge, as well as on the TV series Sherlock. When not being used as a film set, it’s sometimes open to the public, and it’s a fantastic opportunity to get down into the tunnels of London and see what the underground was like throughout the 20th Century.

Banqueting House

This little known building, based just a short walk away from your central London serviced apartments, is the only surviving remnant of the original Whitehall Palace. Open to the public every day of the week, this fantastic house allows you to walk the same halls and corridors that famous Kings like Henry VIII once walked. Featuring a gorgeous undercroft and a grandiose banqueting hall, this priceless attraction is perfect for those who love a bit of history during their short stay in Mayfair.

Whether you decide to go visit something a bit different, or that maybe the London Eye is for you after all, these attractions are just a few fantastic examples of everything London has to offer.
